A brand identity is among a company's most valuable assets
Your brand is what sets your business apart from your competitors. All companies, regardless of size, need to brand themselves. Branding your company is a fundamental part of any business and should be taken seriously.
Who are you?
A business identity is not only crucial to how the public perceives your business, but it can also give your business structure and direction as you develop it. We have worked with hundreds of companies throughout the years and we have seen all their identity mistakes! Businesses that have several different logos, business cards that do not match letterhead or envelopes, even car wraps that do not match all their other marketing materials! What a mess! This is because the business owner has not taken the time to develop a business identity. As a result, the business owner becomes more and more confused about their own business identity and direction of their company. Just image how the public perceives that company ....unorganized and unprofessional. Don't let this happen and if it already has then stop and take the time to create your identity or contact us to assist you.
Create Your Business Identity
Creating your business identity can be easy and rewarding! Your identity involves your logo, business colors, and sometimes a "catch phrase". Our catch phrase is "Linking your business to the web". You should be broad in your business identity but not too broad. As an example; a company that offers electrician services would not want to emphasis only "residential" services even if that is all they are currently doing. Instead, they should emphasis something broad like "experienced" electrician services. This way if the company grows into other fields, such as commercial services or industrial services, they can easily do it without having to re-brand the entire company.
Here are a few quick tips
- Remember to keep your branding broad if you think you may enter other markets in the future
- Come up with your business color(s). (stay with 3 colors max)
- Create your logo and keep it simple. (We can design a logo for you as well)
- Come up with a catchy "catch phrase". This is not a must. (ours is "Linking Your Business to the Web")
- Use your colors, logo and catch phrase on all your materials. Keep the look consistant across medias.
The most important aspects of an identity is your logo. Keep your logo simple. Too many businesses try to stuff their name, business catch phrase, 3 different images and countless colors to their logo. This not only looks to busy, but many people will not remember it because it is too confusing. The rule of thumb is keep it simple, clean and a maximum of 3 colors.
